Protecting user assets and data is the top priority of the ICONFi team. ICONFi has implemented various measures to ensure all assets are safe and secured. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is one of the measures to ensure a high level of security, users would have to undergo several steps associated with setting up 2FA to verify their identity.
What is 2FA?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is known to be one of the most commonly used methods of security to reduce any potential risks of users falling victim to an account takeover. 2FA is ideal as it complements many traditional forms of authentication like passwords to ensure accounts are protected.
Why is 2FA Important?
The fact is, having passwords alone is not enough of a security measure to protect your account. Reports have shown that 65% of individuals use the same passwords for multiple accounts. This would mean that if a hacker gets access to your password, he will gain access to all the accounts with the same password.
Having 2FA in place would add an additional layer of security. This would mean that even though a hacker does gain access to your password, it would not lead to an account takeover since the chances of having access to both factors are improbable.
A Step-by-Step Guide to Setting up 2FA
If you’re unsure of how to set up 2FA on the ICONFi app, here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you through the process.
- Open ICONFi app. After logging in, press [Get Started] to continue.
2. You will be prompted with the option to set up a One-Time Password (OTP) and to submit Know Your Customer (KYC) documents. We highly recommend you complete these steps upon your first login to enhance the security of your account and to enable fund withdrawals.
Follow the steps below to complete your One-Time Password (OTP) setup. If you choose [Complete Both Later], you can always access these from the [My Page] tab in the ICONFi application.
One-Time Password (OTP)
To enhance the security of your ICONFi account and funds, we require you to enable a One-Time Password, hereby referred to as OTP. The setup process is simple and can be completed in minutes.
1. Press [Complete OTP].
2. You will be prompted with a screen asking if you have Google Authenticator installed. If you do have Google Authenticator (or a similar OTP management application such as Authy) installed, then press [Yes]. If not, press [No, Install Now] to be directed to the Google Authenticator download page for your device.
3. Copy the unique OTP code for export into Google Authenticator. Write down the OTP code in a safe place in case you need to restore Google Authenticator. Tick the checkbox for ‘I have written down the key.’ then press [Next] to continue.
4. Open the Google Authenticator app and select [Enter a setup key].
5. Enter a memorable name for the ‘Account’ field (e.g. ICONFi) and paste the unique OTP code (from the ICONFi app) into the ‘Key’ field. Press [Add] to continue.
6. Copy the OTP from Google Authenticator and paste the six-digit code into the ICONFi app. Press [Submit] to complete the OTP setup process.
You have completed the OTP setup for your account. You may be prompted to input this OTP at later points to ensure the security of your account and funds.
